Owner: United States Army ‐ Fort Detrick
Location: Frederick, MD
Project Description: When the highly secured U.S. Army Base Fort Detrick was looking to secure their entrance gates they contacted Shelters Direct and requested our experience in designing and implementing new security measures. Focusing on obtaining results satisfactory to all departments the project was considered a huge success.
Part of the design for this project involved complex installation issues that Shelters Direct was able to overcome by having its own installation crews complete a “turn‐key” project from start to finish. The salient characteristics of this project included:
- Three (3) UL 752 Bullet Resistant Guard Booths with fully functioning restroom facilities
- Underground utility installation to include: new electric feeds, sanitary sewer connections & two (2) septic holding tanks for a remote areas, underground water line installation and telephone/network communication lines
Once the Owner saw the attention to detail provided by Shelters Direct they quickly contracted additional work to include the installation of hydraulic “pop‐up” bollards, tire shredders, and additional road/site work.
